        1. Dana Carbon Emissions Reduction

          Emissions Reduction

          Reducing emissions, together

The drive for significant carbon emissions reduction has kept U.S. CAFE standards top-of-mind, as automakers are mandated to increase fuel economy by model year 2025 to the equivalent of no more than 163 grams of greenhouse gas per mile, or 54.5 mpg for cars and light-duty trucks. Even in the EU, new car fleets cannot emit more than an average of 130 grams of CO2 per kilometer by 2015 and 95g by 2021. These evolving fuel consumption requirements and emissions standards are driving more technological change in powertrains than ever before.

Dana works directly with OEMs and suppliers, re-imagining the vehicle from the ground up to achieve the levels of carbon emissions reduction needed over the next decade. This collaboration improves engine and powertrain efficiency to meet or beat the increasingly tougher emission standards. Together, we develop custom axle, drivetrain, thermal, and cooling systems to support the global and local goals of our OEM customers, ultimately enhancing the end-user driving experience and providing carbon emissions reduction at every opportunity.
